AI subscription prices 2026: what every plan costs now

Updated October 20, 2026. US prices only, before tax. Every price comes from the company's own pricing or help page, and each row shows when we checked it. If something isn't on an official page, we mark it unconfirmed instead of guessing.

ChatGPT

Prices as of Oct 20, 2026, 12:10 (pricing page and Pro tiers help article) UTC.

Free is $0, Go is $8 a month and Plus is $20 a month (chatgpt.com/pricing). OpenAI says Go "may include ads." Pro comes in three monthly tiers: Pro 100 at $100, Pro 200 at $200 and Pro 500 at $500; only Pro 500 includes "Ultrafast" (OpenAI Help Center). The pricing page says annual plans are offered for Business and Enterprise, not Go or Plus.

Claude

Free is $0. Pro is $20 billed monthly, or $17 a month with the annual discount ($200 billed up front; $200 ÷ 12 works out to about $16.67 a month) (claude.com/pricing). Max is "$100 per month" for Max 5x and "$200 per month" for Max 20x, and it's "currently available as a monthly subscription only." Anthropic notes these are web prices and "mobile pricing may vary" (Claude Help Center).

Google AI (Gemini)

Gemini is free with a Google Account. Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month, Google AI Pro $19.99 and Google AI Ultra $99.99 (5x) or $199.99 (20x) (gemini.google). Students: Google offers eligible students a free 1-year Google AI Pro plan; its terms say "Redeem until December 31, 2026" and that Google AI Pro "will automatically charge $19.99/month after the trial ends" unless cancelled (gemini.google/students).

Grok (The X Subscription)

Free is $0. Plus is $8 a month or $80 a year ($7/mo), Premium $30 or $300 ($25/mo), Super $100 or $1,000 ($84/mo) and Ultra $200 or $2,000 ($167/mo) (docs.x.ai). xAI's docs say Grok Bot is included on Premium, Super and Ultra, not Plus. Prices exclude taxes and fees (grok.com/plans).

Perplexity

Free is $0. Pro is "$17/month when billed annually" and Max "$167/month when billed annually" (perplexity.ai/pro). Unconfirmed: monthly-billing prices; they didn't appear on the page we loaded. Students: Perplexity says verified students can "get Pro for $10/month" (perplexity.ai/students).

Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft says "we'll no longer sell Copilot Pro" and points subscribers to Microsoft 365 Premium (Microsoft blog). On Microsoft's compare page, Microsoft 365 Premium is $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, Personal $9.99 or $99.99 and Family $12.99 or $129.99 (microsoft.com). Microsoft says yearly billing saves "up to 17%". In Family and Premium, AI features are for the subscription owner only. Unconfirmed: what the free Copilot app includes, and Copilot Pro's last price.

DeepSeek

DeepSeek's homepage offers "Chat with DeepSeek" and an app, but when we checked it on Oct 20, 2026, it didn't state a price or say it's free (deepseek.com). Unconfirmed: whether the app and web chat are free. The DeepSeek API is not a subscription: it's billed per token from a prepaid balance. Per 1M tokens at peak / off-peak rates (DeepSeek API docs):

DeepSeek says off-peak rates are half the peak rates; peak hours are 01:00–04:00 and 06:00–10:00 UTC, Monday through Friday, excluding Chinese public holidays.

Student and annual discounts

• Students: Google AI Pro free for 1 year for eligible students (redeem by Dec 31, 2026); Perplexity Pro $10/month with verification.
• Annual billing: Claude Pro $200 a year; Grok Plus $80, Premium $300, Super $1,000, Ultra $2,000 a year; Microsoft 365 Personal $99.99, Family $129.99, Premium $199.99 a year; Perplexity shows annual-billing prices only. ChatGPT Go and Plus, and Claude Max, are monthly.

Cheapest way to get a paid AI plan

By list price only, from the official pages above:

• Entry tiers: Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month. ChatGPT Go and Grok Plus are $8 a month; xAI lists Grok Plus at $7 a month on the $80 annual plan.
• Annual plans: Claude Pro's $200 annual plan works out to about $16.67 a month, versus $20 monthly. Microsoft 365 Premium's $199.99 yearly price works out to about $16.67 a month, versus $19.99 monthly.
• Students: Google AI Pro is free for a year for eligible students, and Perplexity Pro is $10 a month.
• Bundles: Microsoft 365 Personal and Family include Copilot alongside the Office apps, and Google AI plans include cloud storage (400 GB on Plus, 5 TB on Pro).
• Free: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and Perplexity all have free options. DeepSeek's homepage doesn't state a price for its app or web chat or say they're free.

What happened to SuperGrok?

xAI now sells The X Subscription to new self-serve customers: Free, Plus ($8/mo), Premium ($30/mo), Super ($100/mo) and Ultra ($200/mo). xAI says existing SuperGrok plans continue, and switching is optional, with a prorated refund for the old plan.

How much is ChatGPT Plus?
